Rainy Days

Dull and rainy with grayish clouds--
Where's the sun? He's left for now.
Gone for a time, but I hope will return.
It's too depressing without a light.

I sit by the window and watch and wait
For what? I am not sure.
I have things to do besides waste time here
But for once, I simply don't care.

My life reflected in pouring rain,
In shades of gray ever changing.
Sun breaks through to be driven away.
But it's never the same from day to day.

I have rainbows built by you, my friend,
That keep the rain from closing in too close
And flooding me.
I wait, and pray, and keep waiting.
I'll know what I'm waiting for once it comes.
